Visiting Yosemite National Park during a government shutdown was a bit chaotic; I long for the days when the park was blissfully quiet in November. To avoid the crowds, I elected to explore the quieter scenes of the Merced River on the west side of the park and found some calm reflections of the autumn color. Post rainsM. This was taken just outside of Genoa, NV on the Carson River. I was doing a scouting trip for locations to capture fall colors next year. I was about two weeks too late this year, but I did find some fall color along the creeks and rivers while exploring on this trip. Genoa is the oldest settlement in Nevada and was a really interesting place to visit. I didn't have much time to explore the town this time, but I will be back. There is a lot of history here from the travelers coming to California during the Gold Rush days. This is a worthy side trip if you get into the area.
